Calendar of Events Co-op Program SC Support Group Message Board

Shanan Community is a Christian home education support group. We currently offer many different activities. Please note that we are not an umbrella program.

Activities for Moms:

bulletMonthly Mom's Meetings, where we meet to encourage and support one another through fellowship and inspirational messages to help us make our home education experience all that God intends it to be
bulletPrayer partners for moms to pray for one another on a personal level
bulletBible studies for moms to grow in our knowledge of God's Word and our relationship with Him and one another.

Activities for Students:

bulletField trips for all ages (preschool through high school)
bulletGroup trips to see productions at Nashville Children's Theatre (NCT), Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC), and Nashville Symphony
bulletGirls for God's Glory, which uses the handbook Keepers at Home and gives our daughters the opportunity to learn the art of womanhood and earn badges.
bulletContenders For The Faith uses the handbook by Keepers of the Faith and gives our sons some hands on knowledge of skills that are necessary for their development from boys to masculine Christian men.
bulletScholastic Book Orders at a group rate
bulletBible Bowl Teams for grades 6-12 that compete on the local, regional and national levels
bulletYear-End Achievement Testing (not guaranteed to be done annually)

Activities for the Entire Family:

bulletSpecial Events such as Back-to-School Picnic, Thanksgiving Feast and Talent Show
bulletChristmas Event such as craft day, gingerbread houses, or caroling at a retirement home
bulletValentine Exchange and Bowling Party

Community members receive e-mail announcements regarding our activities, prayer requests and home education in general. The annual fee of $15 entitles each family to participate in any or all of the community activities.

Since we are a community a high level of participation and service is necessary in order to achieve the support that we all need. Members who are not serving in leadership roles can expect to serve on a committee.
